Labor & Delivery RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week contract. You'll work nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with Tuesday starts, providing direct care to laboring patients and their families in a busy L&D unit.
Unit Details
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status; assess and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and contractions
- Administer labor medications and provide epidural support per orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulating support for cesarean sections
- Manage high-risk conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) and respond to emergencies
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation as needed
- Educate patients and families on labor progress and pain management options
- Collaborate with OB, anesthesia, and NICU teams on patient care plans
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation
Requirements
- Active RN license (BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification (required)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year L&D experience
- Proficiency with fetal monitoring and high-risk OB care
Schedule & Logistics
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4 weekend shifts per month
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Royal blue scrubs
- Float pool: postpartum and medical floor (tech-only)
