Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Position: 1 opening
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nurse to support complex cardiac and thoracic surgical cases. You will work as circulating and/or scrub nurse on procedures including CABG, valve repairs and replacements, and aortic repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide circulating and scrub nursing support during high-acuity cardiac and thoracic procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and surgical equipment
- Coordinate with the perfusion team on cardiopulmonary bypass setup and management
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts throughout procedures
- Manage medications, emergency equipment, and supplies specific to cardiac cases
- Monitor patient hemodynamics and status during complex procedures
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesia, and perfusion staff
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and handoff to post-op care teams
- Document procedural details and patient data per facility standards
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1+ year of CVOR experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CNOR certification preferred
