Labor & Delivery RN – 12-Hour Nights
The Opportunity
The facility's Family Birth Center is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). You'll deliver direct care to laboring patients across a busy perinatal unit that manages both low and high-risk deliveries.
The Role
You'll monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal heart rate patterns and contraction monitoring, administer labor medications, and support vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. High-risk OB management—including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and fetal distress—is part of your daily work. You'll provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation support, collaborate with an in-house OB physician, and educate families throughout their birth experience.
Requirements
- Active RN license (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification required
- COVID vaccination required
- 1+ years of L&D experience
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and delivery management
Schedule & Expectations
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Every-other-weekend (3 weekends per 4-week cycle; Saturday/Sunday days or Friday/Saturday nights)
- Holiday rotation with permanent staff
- Float duties to postpartum couplets and (if experienced) NICU feeders and growers
- First to float
- On-site dysrhythmia test (pass/fail) on day one
Unit Details
Respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7. Postpartum-to-nurse ratios follow California regulations. Scrubs are provided. Orientation is flexible based on circulating experience (2–3 shifts).
