Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Asheville, NC
This 13-week contract places an experienced ED nurse in a high-volume, fast-paced emergency department serving a diverse, multicultural community. The night shift runs 18:45–07:15, with a 36-hour weekly commitment.
Unit Overview
The ED manages a broad range of acuity levels, including medical emergencies, behavioral health holds, and complex trauma and stroke presentations. The department operates across multiple functional areas — cardiac monitoring, internal processing, and — and is supported by dedicated techs and unit clerks on both days and nights.
Schedule & Float
- Every other weekend required
- Block scheduling is not available; scheduling flexes to department needs
- Float is within the ED only; candidates must be comfortable working all sections of the department
Required Certifications (all before start date unless noted)
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC (within 90 days of hire)
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an emergency department setting
- Prior experience in a high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) strongly preferred
- Strong teamwork orientation; ability to coach peers and adapt in real time
- Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED
