Stepdown Unit Nurse – 18-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its stepdown unit. You'll care for moderate-acuity patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration—a role that bridges critical care monitoring with a more stable patient population.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours)
• Every other weekend and select holidays
• 18-week contract
• Start date: October 12, 2026

Key Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac rhythm and vital sign monitoring; respond promptly to changes in condition
• Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients)
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess and monitor patients at risk of deterioration; collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on care plans
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years' experience in stepdown/telemetry nursing
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• 1+ years of telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

Preferred

• BSN (ADN accepted per facility policy)
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)
