Med/Surg Travel Nurse — Nashville, TN

Nights | 13-Week Contract

This med/surg unit manages a diverse, higher-acuity patient population including post-operative cases, stroke and seizure patients, and individuals requiring dialysis or PCA pump management. The unit supports a collaborative, supportive team culture where travel nurses are held to the same standards — and recognition — as core staff.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block
• Float requirement: over core staff as needed

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 14, 2026

Clinical Scope

• Post-op patients: amputations, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, wound vacs
• Stroke and seizure management
• Tracheostomy, wound, and ostomy care
• Peritoneal dialysis and PCA pump management
• Heparin drip (only IV drip on unit)
• Bedside shift report, hourly safety checks, HAI prevention, fall prevention protocols
• 100% medication scanning including controlled substances

Required Certifications

• BLS
• NIHSS

Unit Support

• Unit secretary present daily
• PRN tech support available

Dress Code

• Scrubs in navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue

Ideal Candidate

Comfortable with complex wound care, trach and ostomy management, chest tubes, and post-surgical patients. Strong communication skills and commitment to patient experience are essential.
