Medical-Surgical / Post-Operative Surgical RN — Night Shift
Nashville, TN | 13-Week Contract | Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
This fast-paced surgical unit provides post-operative care across a broad range of surgical specialties, including vascular, bariatric, urology, colorectal, and general surgery. Patients typically have a short length of stay, requiring nurses who are efficient, organized, and comfortable managing high patient volumes.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Start date: September 28, 2026
Clinical Scope & Procedures
- Post-operative surgical site maintenance
- Wound care: packing, dressing changes, wound vac maintenance
- Foley catheter care and continuous bladder irrigation
- Ostomy appliance changes and maintenance
- Nasogastric tube insertion and suction
- Total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
- Blood administration
- Central line care and dressing changes
- Bedside shift report
Float Requirement
- May float to Medical-Surgical units
Required Certifications
- BLS (current)
Preferred Background
- Prior experience in post-operative surgical nursing (vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, or colorectal)
Dress Code
- Black, grey, white, or royal blue scrubs
Strong time management, teamwork, and a patient-centered, customer-service mindset are essential for success on this unit.
