Night Shift Cardiac PCU Nurse – 13-Week Assignment
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced cardiac progressive care unit (PCU) nurse for night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a high-acuity, cardiac-focused unit caring for patients with complex heart conditions and post-procedural recovery needs.
Shift & Schedule
- 3 × 12-hour night shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Available start dates: Every Monday
- Navy blue scrubs required
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification
- GA or compact state license (in hand)
- Minimum 18 months cardiac unit experience within the past 3 years
- Must live within 50-mile radius (non-local travelers only)
Clinical Requirements
You must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored dysrhythmia exam on the first attempt. The exam is paper-based, uses calipers, and allows no tech assistance or remediation.
Experience & Skills
- Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin
- Telemetry interpretation and management
- Chest tube care
- Right/left heart catheterizations, sheath management, TR band monitoring, stent placement, valve replacements, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site care
- Strong understanding of heart failure, A-fib, SVT, VTach, VFib, and transplant patient populations
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training provided if needed)
