Emergency Department RN — Kansas City, MO

4 x 12 | 15:00–03:00 | 13-Week Contract

This Emergency Department position places you in a fast-paced ED with three distinct clinical areas: a Rapid treatment zone, a Main ED, and a psychiatric-safe care area (POD 3). The department manages a diverse, high-acuity patient population requiring strong prioritization and confident clinical judgment.

Shift & Schedule

• 15:00–03:00 (mid-to-night shift)
• 48 guaranteed hours available
• Minimum 4 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays per 4-week schedule
• 2 major and 2 minor holidays required

Clinical Scope & Procedures

• Ventilator and BiPAP management
• Arterial line monitoring
• 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Port placement and chest tube assistance
• Psychiatric patient management in a dedicated safe environment

Float Requirement

• May float to a nearby ED location

Required Skills & Attributes

• Strong prioritization and time management in a high-volume environment
• De-escalation training required; CPI certification preferred
• Patient-focused, detail-oriented, and coachable
• Collaborative team player with a positive attitude

Certifications

• Current RN license (Missouri or compact)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• De-escalation/CPI course documentation

Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

This is a longer-term engagement well suited for an experienced ED nurse comfortable working across varied acuity levels, including behavioral health presentations, procedures, and critical interventions within an active emergency setting.
