Labor & Delivery Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced Labor & Delivery nurses for a 13-week contract assignment. You'll work the night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) on a busy L&D unit managing labor, delivery, and antepartum patients in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Unit Details
The unit has 17 inpatient beds and 2 spaces. You'll typically care for 1–2 patients per shift. A unit secretary is available during day shift; nights operate independently. Expect to float to postpartum and Mother-Baby units as needed.
Clinical Scope
You'll manage full labor and delivery care, including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and external cephalic versions (ECV). Daily responsibilities include fetal monitoring, assisting with epidural placement, supporting vacuum and forceps deliveries, antepartum , and PACU recovery for spinal anesthesia patients. Strong skills in strip interpretation, OB medication knowledge, and recognition of obstetrical complications are essential.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (FM) or C-EFM certification
- Solid L&D experience with strip interpretation and circulator skills in cesarean sections
- Competency in IV insertion, lab draws, blood administration, nitrous oxide administration, and vaginal exams
- Knowledge of JADA and BAKRI hemorrhage management
Schedule & Logistics
Three 12-hour shifts per week; four weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Hospital-provided scrubs. Ready for unit huddle at 6:45 AM on day shift transitions.
