Position: Labor & Delivery Nurse
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Contract: 13 weeks | Location: Salem, VA
About the Unit
The facility's Maternity Care Center offers comprehensive obstetric services, including labor and delivery, cesarean sections, postpartum care, and newborn nursery services. You'll work in a dynamic environment managing active labor patients, supporting vaginal deliveries, and caring for postpartum mother-baby couplets.
Your Role
As an L&D nurse on the night shift, you'll provide direct patient care across labor delivery rooms, postpartum units, and the nursery. Responsibilities include:
- Couplet care: 3 mother-baby pairs per nurse
- Clinical support: Labor inductions, OBED , and cesarean section circulating (experience preferred)
- Team collaboration: Working alongside birth response nurses, scrub techs, and the clinical coordinator
Requirements
- Current RN license (VA)
- OB nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications
- Energetic, self-directed approach to patient care
Cesarean section circulator or first assist experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule & Details
- Hours: 36 guaranteed per week
- Weekends: 4 shifts per 4-week rotation (Friday–Saturday nights)
- Float: Within the unit only
- Scrubs provided
- No on-call requirement; extra shifts available
