Night Shift Medical-Surgical Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical nurse for night shift work. This is a 13-week contract position.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday
- Location: Des Moines, IA
- Start Date: October 9, 2026
Requirements
- Active RN or LPN license
- Current immunizations: COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tdap, Varicella
- TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Fit test and color vision test
- Background check, education verification, and criminal background clearance
- Specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist completion
- Physical/health statement
Standard onboarding requirements including drug screening, I-9 verification, confidentiality and system security agreements, and compliance training will be completed prior to your start date.
What to Expect
You'll provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical unit during overnight hours, working in a fast-paced environment with rotating weekends and holidays. Strong clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as part of a night shift team are essential.
