Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN — Night Shift | Santa Maria, CA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week
This combined Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit is an active, high-acuity OB environment managing a robust volume of deliveries each month. The unit supports patients across all gestational ages, including antepartum, high-risk deliveries, pre-eclampsia, insulin-dependent diabetics, and patients with substance use histories.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
- Every other weekend; first to float
- Holiday rotation integrated with permanent staff
Clinical Scope
- L&D nurses will be required to circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience is preferred
- L&D nurses float to Postpartum; Postpartum nurses do not float to L&D
- OB Tech support available on both day and night shifts
- Charge Nurse typically holds no patient assignment
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy on-site
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWOHNN Advanced) — required for L&D
- NRP — required for Postpartum
Scrub Colors
- L&D Nurses: Seal blue (provided)
- Postpartum Nurses: Navy
Orientation: 3 facility-specific shifts
Cancellation Policy: Up to 4 shifts may be canceled over a 13-week assignment.
