Labor & Delivery RN — Travel Contract | Salinas, CA
13-Week Contract | Nights | 36 hrs/week
This travel opportunity is in a busy Labor & Delivery unit serving a high-risk obstetric population with a notably high diabetic demographic. The unit manages the full spectrum of L&D care, including magnesium and insulin drip management, external cephalic versions, second-trimester cerclages, and C-section perioperative care (scrub-to-sign-off RN model).
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week (36 guaranteed hours)
- 3–4 weekend shifts per 28-day schedule
- Self-scheduling available; balanced by leadership based on experience and skill set
- ASAP starts preferred; orientation held Mondays only
Unit Details
- 8 LDR rooms, 2 /Pre-Op bays, 2 ORs, 2 PACU beds
- Scrubs are provided for L&D travelers
- Orientation includes 3–4 precepted unit shifts before independent assignment
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active California RN license
- BLS & ACLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring certification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience
Compliance Requirements
- Skills checklist, two professional references (within 3 years, one supervisor), 9-panel drug screen, background check, and standard immunization documentation required
