Surgical Center Nurse – State College, PA

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a compassionate and skilled surgical nurse for its outpatient surgical center. You'll work in a fast-paced environment that includes pre-operative assessment, surgical support, post-operative recovery, and specialty procedure rooms.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs; serve as their advocate throughout their surgical experience
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment in implementing nursing care and managing identified problems
• Transcribe and execute physician orders accurately; efficiently admit patients to the surgical center
• Maintain precise, timely documentation of patient records, ensuring all pre-operative requirements are complete (site marking, anesthesiologist consultation, required paperwork)
• Provide clear patient and family education to enhance comfort and understanding
• In PACU: Monitor airways and vital signs, manage pain effectively, and collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists on post-operative concerns
• Float between units as assigned, supporting staff and maintaining workflow; relieve colleagues for breaks and lunch
• Assist in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms
• Support anesthesia operations, including nerve block assistance; know locations of emergency equipment and crash carts
• Manage supplies cost-effectively while maintaining quality care standards

Position Details

• Shift: 3 × 12-hour rotating shifts
• Schedule: Monday–Friday; no weekends, holidays, or call required
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• Required Credentials: Current RN license; BLS certification
