Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 5, 2026

About the Role

You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions on a busy med-surg/telemetry unit. This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to respond quickly to patient changes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans using the nursing process
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound management and pain control
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient education with the interdisciplinary team
• Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee care provided by team members
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Support unit quality initiatives, infection control, and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license as applicable) in the state of practice
• ADN or ASN; BSN preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 1 year of med-surg or telemetry experience
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry/EKG interpretation
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Previous telemetry or cardiac nursing experience
