Cardiovascular Step-Down Unit (CSSU) | Travel RN — Portsmouth, NH
This night-shift travel nursing role is based in a cardiovascular and vascular surgery step-down unit in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The unit cares for high-acuity cardiac and vascular patients, including pre-op cardiovascular surgery preparation and ongoing hemodynamic monitoring.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3 shifts per week (12 shifts/month minimum)
- 4 weekend shifts per month
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract | Start date: September 21, 2026
Clinical Scope
- Strong telemetry monitoring, including central station oversight
- Vasoactive medication titration (vasopressors and inotropes)
- Chest tube management and removal
- Arterial line management and removal
- Temporary pacing
- Pre-operative preparation for cardiovascular surgery
- LNA support available each shift
Required Skills & Certifications
- Strong telemetry skills — required
- Experience titrating vasoactive medications — required
- Chest tube experience — required
- ACLS and BLS — required
- Preferred: arterial lines, Flo-Tracs, temporary pacing experience
Additional Details
- Floating on rotation basis; travelers float first
- Bedside shift report required each shift change
- Scrubs any color accepted
- Mobility team support available on unit
Candidates with arterial line, Flo-Trac, and temporary pacing experience will be prioritized for selection.
