Progressive Care Unit RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
Join the Progressive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse on the night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). This 13-week contract offers 48 guaranteed hours per week with a start date of December 14.
About the Unit
The Progressive Care Unit is a telemetry and pulmonary step-down unit caring for patients with moderate physiologic instability. You'll support patients such as those with COPD exacerbations, ia, CHF, and tracheostomy patients who are hemodynamically stable but require close cardiac and respiratory monitoring. This level of care bridges the gap between intensive care and medical-surgical units.
Clinical Scope
- Continuous cardiac monitoring
- Oxygen therapy delivery (nasal cannula, BIPAP/CPAP up to 80%, high-flow systems)
- Vital signs assessment every 4 hours
- Blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours
- Neurological monitoring as needed
- Patient assessments and interventions every 3–4 hours
Staffing & Support
- Two Patient Care Technicians and one Unit Secretary per shift
- Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week rotation
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- Active RN license
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications (required)
- Experience in cardiac and pulmonary nursing preferred
