Registered Nurse – Ortho/Trauma (Med-Surg)

Kansas City, Missouri | 13-Week Contract | Days

This Ortho/Trauma unit cares for a mix of post-operative orthopedic and trauma patients, with some neurological overflow. Clinical scope includes post-op care following knee, hip, and shoulder replacement surgeries, trauma management, and neuro step-down overflow cases. Telemetry monitoring and NIH Stroke Scale assessment are used on the unit.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Three weekend shifts required per schedule period
• 48 hours per week guaranteed (preferred)
• Start date: December 14

Unit Support

• Unit Secretary and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available
• Equipment includes traction devices, external fixators, and cooling equipment
• Bedside shift report and hourly rounding are standard practice

Float Policy

• Contract staff are first to float
• Float assignments limited to Med-Surg level-of-care units (General Med-Surg, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma)

Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale proficiency strongly preferred
