Medical-Surgical RN – Orthopedic/Trauma Unit | Kansas City, Missouri

This 13-week contract places you on a busy Orthopedic/Trauma unit in Kansas City, MO, caring for post-operative and trauma patients in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment. Shift runs nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.

Unit & Patient Population

The unit manages post-operative orthopedic patients (knee, hip, and shoulder replacements), trauma admissions, and neuro overflow cases. Supportive staffing includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Bedside shift report and hourly rounding are standard practice.

Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Three weekend shifts per schedule period
• Contract labor floats first; float destinations include General Med-Surg, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma units

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Orthopedic nursing experience
• Telemetry experience
• NIH Stroke Scale familiarity (helpful, advanced skill)

• Equipment used includes traction devices, external fixators, and cooling equipment
