Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Asheville, NC

This is a 16-week contract opportunity in a high-volume Emergency Department serving a diverse, multicultural community. The department operates across multiple functional areas, including cardiac monitoring, , behavioral health holds, and internal processing, requiring nurses who are adaptable and comfortable working throughout all sections of the ED.

Shift Details

• 18:45–07:15 (nights)
• Every other weekend required
• Block scheduling is not available; scheduling is department-needs driven
• 36 guaranteed hours per week

Clinical Environment

The ED manages a wide range of acuity levels, from acute medical presentations to behavioral health holds. The unit is supported by patient care technicians, unit clerks, and cardiac monitoring staff. Nurses are expected to uphold consistent patient communication standards throughout each visit.

Required Certifications (must be current prior to submission)

• ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, ENPC
• CPI (required by date of hire)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an emergency department setting
• Prior experience in a high-volume ED (100,000+ annual visits) and/or comprehensive stroke care strongly preferred
• Strong teamwork orientation; ability to give and receive real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work all areas within the ED

Float Policy

No floating outside the ED; however, floating within all sections of the ED is required.

Dress Code: Navy scrubs
