Trauma & General Surgery Inpatient Unit – RN (Weekend Nights)
Position Overview
Join a high-impact trauma and general surgery unit as a staff RN working weekend nights. This fast-paced environment challenges experienced nurses to practice at the top of their scope while managing both stepdown and floor-level patients.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, weekends (Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday)
- Hours: 36 per week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Cancellation Policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
Unit Details
You'll encounter multi-trauma patients, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, post-operative general and bariatric surgery patients, and complex medical-surgical conditions.
Patient Ratios & Acuity
- You will float between both levels
Clinical Scope
- Complex wound care and drain/device management
- Chest tubes and respiratory support
- Traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries
- Post-bariatric and general surgery patients
- Titratable drips (floor: heparin, PCA; stepdown: insulin, Cardizem, non-pressors)
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Respiratory therapy, charge nurse, and clinical associates available 24/7
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- BLS certification
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Experience managing complex wounds, drains, devices, and respiratory support
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
- Weekend requirement per schedule
- Holiday coverage as needed
- Floating to similar units required
