About the Role
Join the postpartum unit providing compassionate care to mothers recovering from delivery and their newborns. You'll deliver couplet care—managing both maternal recovery and newborn needs—while supporting families through early parenthood. This is a regional contract with potential float opportunities to partner facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess maternal recovery post-vaginal or cesarean delivery, including fundal checks, lochia, incision/perineal care, and pain management
- Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, infection, preeclampsia) and escalate promptly
- Provide Level I nursery care and newborn admissions
- Support breastfeeding and educate families on newborn care and bonding
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Collaborate with OB physicians, lactation consultants, and the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments and interventions accurately
- Prepare families for discharge with clear instructions and follow-up guidance
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact license)
- BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and ACLS certifications required
- RNC-MNN certification preferred
- 1+ years postpartum experience
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Ability to provide multiskill care (couplet and nursery nursing)
- Every third weekend rotation and holiday rotation per department guidelines
