Labor and Delivery Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients and families throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and emergency periods, including circulating for cesarean sections. You'll work in an LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) model and supervise ancillary personnel as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical and psychosocial assessments with attention to age, cultural differences, and support for families experiencing fetal demise
- Develop and implement multidisciplinary care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Assess fetal and maternal well-being, amniotic fluid status, and vaginal bleeding; recognize and manage abnormalities
- Demonstrate clinical judgment in perinatal emergencies, including crash cesarean, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia
- Manage pain control in laboring patients; assist with epidural placement and monitor maternal and fetal status
- Educate patients and families using culturally appropriate methods
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all nursing care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience
- Current RN license (state of practice)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
- Electronic health record (EHR) experience
Schedule & Contract
- 36 hours per week, rotating shifts
- Initial day shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) transitioning to night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- Flexibility required during transition period
- 13-week contract
- No on-call requirement
