Registered Nurse – Mother Baby Unit
Position Overview
Join the Mother Baby unit for a 13-week contract assignment.Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: Typically includes 2 hard-to-staff shifts per week (Monday/Friday) and 1 full weekend rotation every 3rd week, plus 1 additional weekend day
- On-call: None
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Clinical Scope
You'll care for postpartum women and newborns across multiple settings: postpartum recovery, LDRP, and well baby nursery. Your responsibilities include:
- Assessing and identifying risk factors (sepsis, VTE/DVT, suicide risk, malignant hyperthermia, pressure injury)
- Discharge education and planning
- Pain management and abnormal assessments
- Attending births as needed
- Performing circumcisions
Unit Details
- Patient ratios: 6–8 patients per RN
- Staffing: RNs only; no unit secretary; PCT support rare, used mainly during short staffing
- Floating: Within women's services (or to pediatrics/NICU if cross-trained)
Requirements
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- BSN preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, time management, and prioritization skills
- Knowledge of AIDET and BSSR patient experience frameworks
Dress Code
Black scrub pants; Caribbean blue scrub top, vest, or jacket
