Night Shift Med/Surg Tele RN

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shifts in an inpatient surgical unit. You'll provide post-operative and acute medical-surgical care to patients ranging from stable recovery to high-acuity trauma cases.

Shift & Schedule

• Hours: 18:45 – 07:15 (Night, 3×12-hour shifts)
• Contract: 13–26 weeks available
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Float: As needed within the facility
• Call: None required

Clinical Scope

You'll care for patients across a wide range of surgical diagnoses and trauma cases, including appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, hernia repairs, and amputations.

Procedures & Equipment

• Common procedures: Cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation/closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, fem-pop bypass
• Special equipment: Wound Vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Penrose drains

Key Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Central line care, chest tube management
• Blood product administration
• Wound care and surgical drain management
• Non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions
• BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, PCA pump management

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years med/surg experience
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing before start

• Scrubs: Navy or navy bottom/white top
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available)

Orientation

• 2 days hospital orientation + 24 hours floor training
