Medical-Surgical / Progressive Care Unit – Day Shift
Position Overview
Join a high-acuity medical-surgical unit as a staff nurse on a 13-week travel contract. This unit specializes in acute respiratory care, managing COPD exacerbations, ia, acute respiratory failure, and patients requiring telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and non-invasive airway support.
Shift & Schedule
- Contract: 13 weeks minimum
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Float: Required to like units within the facility
- Orientation: 24 hours
Patient Population & Acuity
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- EKG interpretation required prior to start
- IV insertion, telemetry management, ventilator care, CPAP/BiPAP, dysrhythmia interpretation
- First-time travelers welcome
Preferred Qualifications
- NIHSS certification
- Vasoactive drip titration experience
Unit Support
You'll work alongside an admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, vascular access team, respiratory therapists, RRT, code team, and behavioral health services. No nurse carries more than one ventilated patient.
Additional Requirements
- Scrubs not provided (white or navy blue)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions honored)
- Strong teamwork and adherence to call-off policy essential
