PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care Unit — Night Shift | Asheville, NC

This PCU position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized progressive care environment focused on neurological and trauma patient populations. The unit manages intermediate-acuity patients requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing interventions.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Contract duration: 13 weeks

Clinical Scope

The unit provides care for neuro and trauma patients. Common procedures include:

• Neurological and spinal assessments
• C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
• Chest tube and lumbar drain management
• PCA pump and IV infusion management
• Feeding tube placement
• Blood transfusions

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Experience

• Neuro and/or trauma care experience is required — candidates without this background will not be considered
• Additional neuro and trauma experience is preferred and prioritized during selection

Float Requirements

Travelers may be floated to stepdown or med-surgical units as needed.
