PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care Unit — Registered Nurse

Asheville, NC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This Progressive Care Unit position focuses on neurological and trauma step-down patients requiring close monitoring and skilled nursing intervention. The unit manages moderate-to-high acuity cases and provides an active, team-oriented environment.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required

Clinical Scope

The unit cares for neuro and trauma patients, with procedures including:

• Neuro and spinal checks
• C-collar placement and TLSO brace management
• Chest tube and PCA pump management
• Lumbar drain care
• IV infusions and blood transfusions
• Feeding tube placement
• Tracheostomy care

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Required Experience

• Neurological and/or trauma care experience — candidates without this background will not be considered

Floating

Float may occur to stepdown and med-surg units as needed.

Navy blue scrubs

Ideal Candidate

A team-focused, patient-centered RN who is comfortable working in a fast-paced neuro/trauma step-down setting and can confidently manage complex neurological and post-surgical patients.
