PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Cardiac Care – Travel RN | Asheville, NC

This is a night shift (18:45–07:15) travel nursing role on a progressive cardiac unit managing a diverse, high-acuity cardiovascular patient population. The contract runs 13 weeks with a guaranteed 36 hours per week, starting October 12, 2026.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

The unit cares for patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA, as well as post-procedural patients following cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD implantation, and ablation. Bedside cardioversion is performed on the unit.

Required Skills & Experience

• Stepdown or progressive care experience (required)
• Telemetry experience (required)
• Proficiency with titratable cardiac IV drips, including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics

Preferred Skills

• Experience with prostacyclin therapy (e.g., Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
• Relief charge nurse experience

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Schedule & Expectations

• Shift: nights, 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Float requirement: Med/Surg units, stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
