Medical-Surgical / Telemetry RN – Inpatient Surgery Unit

Position Overview

Join the inpatient surgery unit as a Med-Surg/Telemetry RN on the night shift. You'll care for adult patients across a combined medical-surgical and surgical stepdown setting, managing a diverse range of diagnoses and post-operative recovery.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 4 × 12-hour (18:45–07:15)
• Contract duration: 13 weeks
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: None required
• Float: As needed within the facility

Clinical Scope

You'll work with patients across the surgical and trauma spectrum, including those with cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstructions, peripheral vascular disease, and gangrene. Procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation/closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and femoral-popliteal bypass.

Patient Care Details

• Patient population: Adults (combined floor and step-down)
• Special equipment: Wound Vacs, chest tubes, NG tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Penrose drains

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license (NC or Compact)
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical nursing
• Comfort with dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, and wound care
• EKG testing required prior to start

Orientation

• 2 days hospital orientation + 24 hours floor training
• Pre-start modules required (8–10 hours for acute care)

Scrubs: All navy or navy bottoms with white top
