Night Shift RN — Med-Surg/Telemetry Unit

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 3x12-hour (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week contract
• 24-hour orientation

About the Unit

You'll work in a high-acuity med-surg unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with respiratory and cardiac conditions. The patient population includes COPD exacerbations, ia, acute respiratory failure, COVID-19, influenza, and pulmonary embolism. Many patients require telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, or non-invasive ventilation support.

Clinical Scope

• IV starts and management
• Ventilator care (chronic trach/vent patients; no nurse carries more than one vent patient)
• CPAP/BiPAP management
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Chest tube care
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip management (titration experience preferred)
• Isolation precautions and COVID-19 protocols

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years hospital nursing experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Current RN license (NC or Compact; pending licensure acceptable)
• EKG interpretation test required before start
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available)

Preferred

• NIHSS certification
• Ventilator experience (unit will train if needed)

Expectations

• Must float to similar units as needed
• Float requirement within facility
• Strong teamwork approach and professional communication required
• RTO: Up to 7 days pre-approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
