ICU/PCU Travel Nurse — Asheville, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This mixed ICU/PCU unit provides high-acuity critical care and step-down overflow services. The unit operates without PCTs or unit secretaries, making strong independent clinical practice essential. Charge nurses are staffed out of ratio, and travelers may be expected to perform relief charge duties, including nurse leader rounding.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (12-hour shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support expected
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units is required

Clinical Scope

• ICU and PCU overflow patients; high-acuity critical care environment
• Ventilator management, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
• Central line management
• Assistance with bedside procedures including chest tube insertion and intubation
• Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) protocols
• Bedside shift report is mandatory

Required Qualifications

• Medical ICU experience
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Strong critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS (required)

Dress Code

Navy blue or white scrubs

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
