Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 11/12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three shifts per week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: November 2, 2026

About the Role

The facility seeks an experienced RN to join its Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit, providing direct patient care to adults with a wide range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. You'll manage continuous cardiac monitoring, administer medications and treatments, coordinate pre- and post-operative care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on discharge planning and patient education.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans using the nursing process
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative patient care, wound care, and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed
• Support unit-based quality improvement and core measures initiatives

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of Med-Surg/Telemetry experience
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation competency required
• ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills

Weekends and holidays as needed.
