Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry Nurse for a 13-week contract starting November 3, 2026. This is a fast-paced unit with an average patient length of stay of 3 days, where you'll manage a diverse patient population across medical, surgical, and pediatric telemetry.

Shift & Schedule

• Hours: 12-hour days (7 AM – 7 PM)
• Days Off: Every other weekend
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling available; schedules posted 30–45 days in advance
• Call: Yes, call requirement in effect
• Float: Optional; may float to tele or OB if experienced

Unit Details

• Common Diagnoses: Post-op, COPD, GI bleeds, OB/GYN surgeries, orthopedic cases, sepsis, altered mental status, chest pain, stroke, cellulitis, alcohol withdrawal
• Support: Nurse aides and charge nurse/team lead on-site; hospitalist available 24/7

Requirements

• 2–3 years Med/Surg or specialty experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA); PALS preferred
• Ability to titrate Heparin drips
• Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Pediatric experience preferred (required if taking pediatric patients)
• Telemetry monitoring experience required

What to Expect

• Navy blue scrubs
• 2–3 day orientation (includes scavenger hunt)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
