Night Shift RN – Medical-Surgical Telemetry

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an RN for a night shift position in a medical-surgical telemetry unit. You'll provide direct patient care, cardiac monitoring, and post-procedural management in a fast-paced environment.

Shift & Schedule

• 4 x 12-hour nights: 18:30–07:00
• Every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Contract duration: 13 weeks
• Start date: October 25, 2026
• Flexible scheduling options available (36/36, 36/48, 48/48)
• Float to other units as needed

Patient Care & Clinical Scope

• Daily census: 35 patients
• Focus areas include:
• Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)
• Cardiac care: post-angiogram, post-MI, post-cardiac surgery
• Central line and port management
• Chest tube management
• BiPAP/CPAP support
• IV insulin and cardiac drip management (no titration)
• Blood product administration
• Management of patients with renal failure, neurosurgery recovery, and traumatic brain injury

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• AHA BLS and ACLS certification (required; other certifications not accepted)
• Demonstrated cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Must live 100+ miles from the facility
• First-time travelers welcome
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Prior thoracic surgery experience is a plus

Orientation & Onboarding

• 16 hours of non-billable orientation
• Online CBLs begin Sunday
• Relias EKG test required within 72 hours of acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Interdisciplinary support available: PT, respiratory, pharmacy, and unit secretary

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available)
• Nursing student education support expected as part of clinical role
• One shift biweekly may be called off without penalty based on census needs
