Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking experienced RNs for night shifts in a medical-surgical telemetry unit. You'll care for post-surgical and acute patients, including those recovering from cardiac procedures, managing complex drains, lines, and monitoring.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shifts: 18:30 – 07:00 (choose 3x12 or 4x12 hours weekly)
• Schedules available: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 (every other weekend included)
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Floating: Required to other units as needed
• No call required

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Daily census: ~35 patients
• Scope: Post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, pre/post cardiac angiogram, renal failure, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, thoracic surgery patients, telemetry monitoring
• Skills required: Dysrhythmia interpretation and management, central line care, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drips (non-titrating), feeding tube care, port management, phlebotomy, PICC line care
• Support: PT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, unit secretary

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation proficiency
• Relias EKG test (within 72 hours of offer acceptance; two attempts allowed)
• Must live 100+ miles from the facility
• First-time travelers welcome; previous charge experience preferred

Orientation

• Begins Sunday (online modules)
• 16 hours nonbillable orientation included
• You'll support nursing students as part of the clinical education mission

Additional Requirements

• Drug screen (12–14 days pre-start; allow for possible repeat)
• Fit testing (facial hair must be trimmed/removed per CDC guidelines)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
