Med Surg Tele

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Kingsport, TN

This 13-week night shift contract places you on an adult Med/Surg Telemetry unit providing care for patients across a broad range of medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit supports a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, social services, and phlebotomy.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 18:30–07:00
• 36- or 48-hour weekly schedule options available
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Float required

Clinical Skills & Scope

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Central and PICC line management, port access
• Blood product administration, heparin and insulin drips
• PCA management, wound care/wound vac
• High-flow nasal cannula, chest tube management
• Pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure patients
• Rapid response and code team participation

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Med/Surg and MS/Tele experience required
• AHA BLS required (AHA certification only — no exceptions)
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers accepted

Important Compliance Notes

• EKG competency testing (via Relias) must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance; two attempts allowed
• Drug screen must be completed 12–14 days prior to start
• Orientation begins on Sundays with online modules (approximately 4–5 hours, non-billable)
• Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions considered
• COVID-19 vaccine not required

Clinical Education

Travel nurses on this unit are expected to support nursing students and contribute to clinical education alongside their patient care responsibilities.
