Med Surg Tele

Med/Surg Telemetry — Travel RN | Nights | Kingsport, TN

This 13-week night shift contract places you on an Ortho/Spine/Med/Surg unit caring for adult patients with orthopedic, neurological, and post-operative diagnoses, including total joint replacements, ortho trauma, and post-neurosurgery recovery.

Shift & Schedule

• 4x12-hour nights, 18:30–07:00
• 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 scheduling options available
• Every other weekend required; no call
• Float required

Clinical Skills & Scope

You should be comfortable managing:

• Telemetry interpretation and on-unit monitoring
• BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration
• Central line blood draws, PICC line management, port access
• Blood product administration, heparin, insulin, PCA
• Chest tubes, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac
• Pre/post hemodialysis management
• Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management

Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and more.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg and MS/Tele experience
• AHA BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility
• Must pass a Relias basic EKG test within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Drug screen required 12–14 days prior to start
• AHA-issued certifications only accepted for BLS/ACLS

Orientation

Orientation begins Sundays and includes online modules (approximately 4–5 hours, non-billable).

Travelers are expected to support nursing student clinical education alongside regular patient care responsibilities.
