Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Location: Elizabethtown, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week with weekend and holiday rotation

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You'll manage patients across a full spectrum of emergent and urgent conditions, from minor injuries to critical trauma activations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid and comprehensive assessments to prioritize patient care and acuity levels
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and established protocols
• Respond immediately to trauma activations, codes, and patient deterioration with appropriate emergency interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on care planning
• Monitor and manage patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education on discharge instructions and follow-up care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely
• Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and de-escalation standards

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1+ year of Emergency Department experience
• Demonstrated competency in protocols and high-acuity environments
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy

Preferred Certifications

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
