Associate Director of Nursing – Behavioral Health
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Associate Director of Nursing to lead clinical and administrative operations across the Behavioral Health Department, including the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), inpatient, and outpatient services. This role combines leadership, program development, and clinical oversight to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and strong team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clinical leadership for assigned units and services
- Oversee daily staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain safe patient coverage
- Monitor unit performance metrics, quality indicators, and regulatory compliance
- Support staff development, evaluations, and performance management
- Serve as a clinical resource and escalation point for complex patient care and staff issues
- Develop and implement programs to improve patient care outcomes and employee performance
- Establish record-keeping systems for medication errors and counseling documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and hospital administration on operational needs
- Facilitate staff meetings, education, and onboarding initiatives
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Participate in budget planning, supply management, and process improvement
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (New York State); primary source verification required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Seven (7) years of clinical nursing experience; five (5) in a supervisory or leadership role
- Demonstrated expertise in behavioral health nursing across acute psychiatric care, emergency psychiatry, and outpatient settings
- BLS certification
- Strong leadership, staffing, performance management, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing
