Emergency Department – RN | Night Shift | Knoxville, TN

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (18:45–07:15)

About the Role

This ED nursing position focuses on boarder management — caring for admitted patients who are awaiting inpatient bed placement within the emergency department, either in a designated holding area or hallway spaces. If census is low and no patients are boarding, you may occasionally be assigned to support an acute care unit, though this is expected to be rare.

Schedule & Coverage

• Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Some holiday coverage expected
• Block scheduling considered

Patient Population & Scope

• Admitted patients awaiting inpatient placement
• Acute care and med-surg/telemetry acuity

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Acute Care or Med-Surg Telemetry
• ACLS and BLS required
• Active Tennessee RN license or valid compact license in hand at time of submittal (pending licenses not accepted)
• Prior charting experience required for RN positions
• 2 references required (may be pending at submittal)
• Float within scope to meet unit needs

Onboarding

• Orientation includes non-billable online modules averaging 2–4 hours (5-hour max), completed onsite and recorded by a Nurse Educator
