Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
Join the night shift team in a medical/surgical telemetry unit. You'll provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment, managing diverse diagnoses and complex clinical needs on a 36- or 48-hour weekly schedule.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts: 18:45–07:15
- Every other weekend required
- No call
- Up to 7 days RTO per contract (pre-approval required; no RTO first week)
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Contract duration: 13 weeks (longer contracts considered)
Clinical Scope
You'll care for adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, ia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, CHF, renal failure, post-surgical recovery, and more. Your responsibilities include:
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Wound care and wound vacs
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line management
- Chest tube care
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow oxygen delivery
- Feeding tube and colostomy care
- IV starts and medication administration (heparin, insulin, PCA)
Requirements
- Current RN license (NC or compact pending OK)
- BLS & NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years telemetry experience
- Charge experience preferred
- First-time travelers welcome
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Floating & Staffing
Float required to other medical/surgical units and the main campus (32 minutes away). You may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and required to report during catastrophic events.
Orientation
24-hour unit orientation provided.
Scrubs
Navy blue or white.
