Operating Room Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. You will provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT procedures. This is a 13-week contract position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide circulating and/or scrub support during surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
• Monitor patient status and safety throughout surgical cases
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery
• Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status

Requirements

• Active RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of general OR experience
• Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties
• ADN or BSN

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
• CNOR certification

Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM shift
• 36 hours of evening/overnight call per 6 weeks
• Every 6th weekend on call
