ICU Travel Nurse – Night Shift | Folsom, CA

13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week

This ICU position manages a general medical/surgical critical care population with a focus on moderate-to-high acuity cases. Common diagnoses include stable CVA post-TPA, respiratory failure, COPD exacerbation, CHF, DKA, and patients requiring manual proning. No CABG or neurosurgical cases. Telemedicine is utilized for intensivist/hospitalist consultation.

Shift Details

• 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, bedside report
• Every other weekend required; holidays rotate with core staff
• Self-scheduling with manager approval; schedules posted 4 weeks out
• Overtime and extra shifts available
• May be placed on-call if census is low

Clinical Environment

• Telemetry proficiency required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Ventilator management required
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Charge nurse on unit; no nurse aides
• Float requirement: other Sacramento-area facilities
• Orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Active CA RN license
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications
• Dysrhythmia exam must be completed and passed prior to contract start (two attempts permitted)
• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black

Contract Notes

• The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any affiliated system facility within the past 12 months
