Operating Room Nurse

The facility is seeking an experienced OR nurse to join its surgical services team. This is a 14-week contract position working 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM shifts with a 32-hour weekly guarantee. You can typically leave once your cases are completed for the day.

About the Role

You'll provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of general surgical procedures, including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT cases. Your responsibilities include:

• Performing pre-operative assessments and verifying surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Preparing and maintaining sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Performing accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
• Monitoring patient status and safety throughout surgical procedures
• Managing supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and proper function
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure smooth case flow
• Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to PACU
• Documenting intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of general OR experience required
• Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles across a variety of surgical specialties

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
• CNOR certification
• Prior ambulatory surgery center (ASC) experience
