Medical-Surgical Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility seeks a compassionate and competent Medical-Surgical nurse for a full-time night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a 13-week contract position.

Unit & Patient Population

You'll work on a mixed medical-surgical unit serving adult patients recovering from joint replacements, general abdominal surgeries, and spinal procedures. The unit manages both routine and complex post-operative care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the full nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administer medications and treatments; monitor for effectiveness and side effects
• Assess and address patients' psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs
• Educate patients and families; identify learning needs and available resources
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and nursing care provided
• Delegate and coordinate care with the broader care team
• Practice independently while demonstrating clinical judgment and adaptability

Requirements

• RN license valid in Texas or compact state
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• 1+ year experience in a related nursing specialty preferred
