ICU Registered Nurse — General ICU | Garden City, KS

12-Hour Days | 13-Week Contract | Start: October 26, 2026

This general ICU role is based in a rural acute care setting that leverages telehealth support for critical care and pulmonology consults, with a hospitalist consistently onsite. The unit manages a broad range of high-acuity presentations including chest pain, dyspnea, sepsis, altered mental status, headache, abdominal pain, and traumatic injury.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• Holiday requirements apply
• Float responsibilities determined by nurse manager; potential to float within zone as needed
• First-to-float designation

Clinical Scope

• Titration of vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, and specialized metabolic drips
• Respiratory support: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation
• Respiratory therapy available around the clock
• RNs are expected to read and escalate cardiac monitor strips independently
• Charge nurse carries a patient assignment; nurse aide support available based on volume

Requirements

• Active RN license (Kansas or compact)
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS required
• CRRT experience required
• Rural and/or telehealth ICU experience strongly preferred
• BSN not required
• Must be in-state for the full week of orientation

Contract Details

• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Up to 4 shifts may be cancelled over a 13-week assignment
