Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide skilled nursing care to moderate-acuity patients requiring closer monitoring than a standard medical-surgical unit but who do not require intensive care. This is a 13-week contract position.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend per unit needs
- Start Date: October 25, 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond promptly to changes in condition
- Administer medications, including IV drips, per physician orders
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients)
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment, and recovery
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Maintain infection control and fall prevention standards
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- 2+ years of acute-care or PCU/step-down experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
