Registered Nurse – Mother Baby
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join the Mother Baby unit. You will provide couplet care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, supporting families during this critical transition to parenthood.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess maternal recovery post-delivery, monitoring fundal checks, lochia, and incision/perineal healing
- Perform comprehensive newborn assessments including vital signs, feeding evaluation, and screening tests
- Support breastfeeding initiation and educate mothers on infant care and bonding
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders for mother and baby
- Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, infection, preeclampsia) and escalate concerns promptly
- Educate patients and families on newborn safety, care techniques, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with OB physicians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team members on care plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record
- Provide emotional support and guidance as families adjust to parenthood
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- 1+ years of mother baby/postpartum nursing experience
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- RNC-MNN (Maternal Newborn Nursing) certification preferred
Shift & Contract Details
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- 13-week contract
- Start date: October 25, 2026
